Integrated Change Control is a critical topic from the PMP® examination point of view. The webinar on this knowledge area was held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, conducted by Ms. Indu Sharma.
The motive behind taking up the topic was to clear the confusion – why one needs an entire knowledge area for change control and management? It is very important to understand that Change is something that’s continuously happening so it needs to be monitored and controlled.
The agenda covered a range of important issues:
- Concept of Change Requests
- Flow of Change Requests and how this flow is managed
- Change Management and Configuration Management
To begin with, Change is something that’s inevitable, as we have already stated, it’s an ongoing activity. This implies that we need to rein it in and regularize it in a specific order. PMBOK® Guide Fifth Edition has dedicated an entire process to Integrated Change Control. There are several channels that communicate Change Requests to the project, like a customer for scope change, sponsor for cost change, human resource department for any resource replacement.
The Webinar was focussed on the flow of Change Request and Change Request Management. The entire session was interactive and interesting since most of the participants raised queries and were duly responded.
